DIY Plans.Repair, Refinish Vintage Golf clubs
Antique golf clubs are a favorite collectible and project for many people. Particularly for golfers who like to play with the vintage equipment that was used in the golden days of early golf. Others simply like to play golf with them as an interesting DIY project. The early clubs have hickory wood shafts and interesting names such as "mashie niblick". These are from the heyday of golf in the 1920s and 1930s and earlier.
In the 1940s steel shaft clubs started to be used. Some of these had shafts which were given a painted on woodgrain finish. Many players felt that a "real" golf club should have a wooden shaft. There are many of these old clubs around today in attics and basements as well as in some older golf course pro shops. In some cases these clubs have deteriorated due to age and are a little rusty or the wooden shafts have no varnish remaining . All they really need is a little bit of fairly simple do it yourself plan TLC to bring them back to their former condition and they will look great again on completion of this DIY project.
We have two old vintage DIY plans and vintage do it yourself articles here which will take you step by step through the repair and refinishing of old golf clubs. These are free for your use so download them and enjoy this great project. We will have many more interesting DIY plans and vintage projects posted on this blog on a regular basis.
